The Overview tab - what to read first

Of the seven stock-page tabs, Overview is the one you'll spend the most time on. Five sections, all collapsible, designed for the 'do I care about this stock?' read.

What's in it

Five sections, top to bottom:

  1. Price & Trading — open, previous close, day high/low, 52-week range bar, volume vs average
  2. Returns heat grid — 1D / 1W / 1M / 3M / 6M / 1Y returns with heat-colour backgrounds
  3. Conviction Breakdown (collapsible) — the seven conviction factors and their verdicts
  4. Investment Checklist (collapsible) — four fundamentals factors of business quality
  5. Signals Highlight — top three currently-firing signals (hidden when none are firing)

How to read each section

Price & Trading

A scan for context, not analysis. Where is the stock trading in its 52-week range? The horizontal bar visualises this — a stock at the right edge of the bar is near its 52-week high, left edge is near the low. Volume-vs-average underneath tells you whether today's activity is normal or unusual.

Returns heat grid

Six cells, colour-coded green (positive) to red (negative). Skim left-to-right to see the time progression. A green 1D but red 6M means the stock has bounced today but is still in a longer downtrend. The pattern matters more than any individual number.

Conviction Breakdown

Expanded by default for Strong and Moderate band stocks, collapsed for Emerging and Weak (you can override). When expanded, shows all seven factors (delivery, volume, price trend, deals, breadth, flows, event) with their directional verdicts. See The 7 conviction factors for what each means.

Investment Checklist

Expanded when the overall score is ≥60, collapsed otherwise. Four fundamentals factors: valuation, growth, returns & margins, financial health. Each scores 0–100 with a pass/neutral/fail label. Price action and momentum timing live in the conviction (Market Setup) signal, not here. See The Investment Checklist.

Signals Highlight

If the stock has any currently-firing signals, the top three appear here with a link to the full Technicals tab. If no signals are firing, this section is hidden — that's information too (no momentum either way).

The 30-second read

If you only have 30 seconds: read the conviction strip above the tabs (which mirrors the same data in compressed form). For the 2-minute read, expand both Conviction and Checklist and read the verdicts. For the deep dive, go to the other tabs.
