Finishing the welcome flow

The four-step onboarding that primes your watchlist, conviction lens, and first alert. Skippable, but the platform is sharper afterwards.

What /welcome is

A four-step onboarding triggered the first time you sign up. It primes the platform with the data it needs to be useful — your watchlist, your default conviction lens, your first alert. You can also re-open it at any time from /welcome.

The four steps

  1. Seed a watchlist

A chip-input asks you to add the stocks you already follow. Five to ten is plenty for the first pass — you can always add more later. A "Default" list is pre-created so you don't have to name anything.

Why this matters: filing alerts, conviction summaries, and the AI chat's default context all hang off your watchlist. An empty watchlist makes the platform feel hollow.

  2. Pick a conviction lens

Bullish-only, Bearish-only, or Neutral (both). This sets the default filter on conviction views — the leaderboard and stock pages will surface stocks matching your lens first. Most users pick Bullish-only initially; you can change it any time from the leaderboard filters.

  3. Set your first alert

Pre-filled with a symbol from the seed step. You can set a price threshold or a signal trigger. This step exists because users who set at least one alert in the first session are dramatically more likely to come back the next day.

  4. Preview a delivery insight

Shows you a sample delivery-trend chart from a watchlisted stock. Educational — confirms that you understand what kind of intelligence the platform produces. Skippable.

Skipping or re-running

Each step has a "Skip" button. The platform marks you "onboarded" the first time you finish or skip the flow. To re-run it later — useful if you've forgotten what's available — open /welcome directly.
