What a theme is
A theme is a hand-curated list of stocks built around a narrative. Examples: Defence procurement beneficiaries, EV supply chain, Capex revival, Monsoon-linked rural consumption, Data centre infrastructure.
Themes are the screener's lazy-mode counterpart. Instead of describing what you want with filters, you pick a theme that already represents an idea.
How they work
Each theme has:
- A name and narrative explaining the thesis
- A constituents list of stocks tagged to that theme
- A performance overview showing how the theme has done over various timeframes
- A conviction summary showing the band/stance distribution across constituents

When to use themes
Themes are at their best when:
- You have a macro view you want to express in stocks (you believe in the defence cycle but don't know which names)
- You're researching a sector you don't follow (themes give you the canonical names without index-look-up work)
- You want to generate ideas rather than filter existing ones
They're at their worst when:
- You want a precise filter (use the screener)
- You want stocks matching a quality bar (themes are thesis-driven, not quality-curated)
- You're looking for current technical setups (themes are slow-changing; signals are not)
Theme conviction strip
Each theme page shows the conviction-band breakdown across its constituents. A theme where 60% of constituents are at Strong/Moderate Bullish is in a different state than one where 70% are at Weak/Bearish. This is a quick read on whether the theme's narrative is currently being confirmed by the data.
Updating
Themes are reviewed quarterly. Constituents are added when they meet the thesis criteria; removed when they no longer do. Authors of themes are credited on the theme page.
